Visit the islands of Skiathos - Skopelos - Alonissos

By ferry or speedboat from the port of Volos. The journey by ferry takes an hour and a half and the ferry has a stop on each of the islands. The islands are magical, the famous film Mama mia was shot on Skiatos and the Pylion peninsula. The islands are part of the Sporades area, which are known mainly to yachtsmen.

The best beaches around

The whole bay in the Aegean Sea called Pgasitikos is lined with countless beaches with sand, pebbles or rocks. We recommend Kala Nera beach with a beautiful pebble beach, restaurants and shops 45 minutes away from the house by car. On the other side of the bay are black sand beaches, for example in the town of Achilio.

Portaria

A charming mountain town high in the mountains with shops, taverns, hotels and a real Greek atmosphere below Mount Pylion.

A place an hour and a half away from the house, where there is a beautiful view of the islands and a trip through the town to the open temple. On the way you can stop in Milina for lunch, where they always have fresh fish.

Meteora, a World Heritage Site, one of the most visited place in Greece, is accessible 2 hours from our house. On high smooth rocks are built monasteries in a beautiful landscape. The monasteries were accessible to the monks by rope ladders. Today, they are accessible by stairs carved into the rock in the 1920s, as well as by 15 km of asphalt roads. If you go on a trip in the morning, you will be able to visit 3 monasteries. Moni Megála Meteora, Moni Varlaam and Moni Ajas Varvaras Rusanu. It will be best for you to take the bus up and down on foot. Capable tourists can follow the secret trail of monks (monopathies). As you know, at the entrances to the monasteries you need appropriate clothing, no bare shoulders, men must have trousers and women skirts below the knees. You will never forget this trip.

Taverns

Northern Greece is known for its taverns, they are called Cipurarna and are scattered throughout the bay. To order cipuro (hard alcohol) means tasting dishes with seafood and delicious Greek specialties. It is much cheaper than ordering individual dishes from the menu. You can recognize them by the Greek paper tablecloths.
